Shivraj Chouhan Criticizes Jharkhand Government’s Corruption

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the BJP’s election in-charge for Jharkhand, targeted the Hemant Soren-led government over charges of corruption. He showed grave concern about the security of the women in the state.

“We can deal with cyclone ‘Dana’, but the storm of corruption in Jharkhand during the last five years has ruined the state. Even the women are not safe here,” Chouhan told reporters.

He further went on to say that the alliance between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress was more dangerous than the cyclone itself. He said, “Corruption has reached its peak; it is the biggest issue here. The JMM and Congress alliance is a storm worse than cyclone ‘Dana.’ If you want to avoid this crisis. You must uproot the Hemant Soren government and help the BJP-NDA win the elections.”

Chouhan listed five commitments from the BJP, the party has for the development and welfare of the people of Jharkhand. Change in the present government is urgent, he asserted.

Addressing a public meeting at the Morabadi Ground in Ranchi, Chouhan highlighted the safety issue of women and lambasted the government for not doing anything. He said, “The daughters of the state are not safe, and the government is doing nothing. The public will dethrone this corrupt government. It has failed to deliver for the youth and the people.”

Chouhan highlighted that the state continues to face constant issues, including cases of paper leaks. Additionally, he pointed out that these problems undermine public trust. “Every day, new paper leak cases come to light. The BJP promises it will take action against the culprits. We will give jobs to the youth once we come to form the government. The Hemant Soren government has done nothing for the youth or women in this state,” he added.

The BJP recently announced its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly given the forthcoming elections in the state. The election will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. While votes will be counted on November 23.

With just a few weeks to go before the elections, Chouhan’s remarks underlined corruption and safety as key themes. That the BJP is likely to harp on in its campaign, also in its bid to capture the imagination of an electorate yearning for change in Jharkhand.
