Congress Confident of Haryana Government Formation

Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda exuded confidence that the Congress Party will form the next government with a comfortable majority as the vote counting continues for Haryana’s assembly elections.

“There is no doubt that Congress is going to form the government with a huge margin,” Hooda said. He added, “The Party will decide on the Chief Minister’s face after securing the majority.” He thanked party leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge. And most importantly, the people of Haryana, for their support.

According to the trends available at 11:10 am, the BJP is leading with 49 seats while Congress has won 35 seats so far. The INLD and BSP are leading in one seat each and smaller parties and Independents have taken the lead in four seats.

The exit polls had predicted the victory of Congress, but going by the current trends. The BJP seems to have pulled off a hat-trick victory in the assembly elections.

State Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is leading from the Ladwa constituency with 840 votes. He is ahead of his nearest Congress candidate, Mewa Singh. Meanwhile, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has established a lead from the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat. He has received 16,823 votes, surpassing his nearest BJP rival, Manju. Furthermore, these updates come from the latest information released by the Election Commission.

While BJP leader Anil Vij attacked Congress and said that the people of Haryana were teaching them a lesson, “In the morning, Congress opened its ‘Jhooth ki dukaan’. There are people within Congress who want Hooda to lose. They were celebrating with crackers,” Vij told.

Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP spokesperson, also joined in, saying the BJP was all set to form the government in Haryana for the third consecutive time. He praised EVMs, the Election Commission, and the democratic traditions of India. “This victory shows that the people have faith in the work of the BJP,” he added.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said, “BJP has worked hard for the development of Haryana in the last ten years. Our government will continue to work for the state’s development.”

He asserted that the BJP had toiled honestly for all sections of society while Congress was mired in corruption. “BJP will form the government for the third time,” he added.

While counting is going on, Congress, however, remains optimistic of winning despite the trends.
