As voting in the third phase of elections commences in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi exudes confidence in strong women participation. He went on to say that this democratic exercise is going to be very significant on X.
PM Modi asked the first-time voters to come out and exercise their franchise. He tweeted, “Today is the third and final phase of polling in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. I request all voters to come out and vote to make this festival of democracy a success. I am confident that more women will come out along with young friends voting for the first time.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah does not miss this golden opportunity to ask voters to exercise their franchise. He says, “Jammu and Kashmir needs a government which can make strong decisions in the interest of its security and stability. Today, those voting in this last phase should use their vote to form a government which protects the rights of every section. Cast a historic vote for tourism, education, employment, and overall development in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Voting in the third and final phase began at 7 a.m. Long queues are also in front of the polling stations across the seven districts of the Union Territory. Of them, 24 are in the Jammu division while the remaining 16 are in the Kashmir Valley.
At least 415 candidates are trying their luck this time. Including two former deputy Chief Ministers- Congress’s Tara Chand and Muzaffar Hussain Beig. Mock polling was held at many booths, before the start of the actual polling.
While the first phase of voting started on September 18, the second phase ended on September 25. The high-profile leaders have participated in the election campaign enthusiastically. Including Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah of the BJP, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. And former J-K Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, and Mehbooba Mufti.
Voting is scheduled to take place on October 8. In this electoral process, women and also first-time voters might possess a pivotal key to determining the fate of Jammu and Kashmir.
