Indian Hockey Team Hosts Bhubaneswar Roadshow Post-Bronze

As the Paris Olympics comes to an end, our champions are returning home. Our Indian men’s hockey team made our nation proud by winning the bronze for the country in the Olympics.
On Wednesday a roadshow was organized at the Summer Games, in Bhubaneshwar to celebrate the victory of the team.
It was for the first time in 52 years, that India’s hockey team (men), bagged bronze, second in a row, at the Paris Olympics.
Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian men’s hockey team, under whom the team won back-to-back bronze medals after a wait of 52 years.

Dilip Tirkey, the Hockey India President thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the government of Odisha for the grand and warm welcome of the team in the state.
Tirkey stated, “I would like to thank the Odisha government and CM Mohan Charan Majhi for this honor. The way team India was welcomed, it happened for the first time that such grand welcome was given (to the Hockey team). The team had also performed well and created history after years by winning back-to-back medals (at the Paris Olympics)…,”

Cash Reward

Odisha government announced a cash price of Rs 15 lakh to each hockey player . Also Rs 10 lakh cash reward to the support staff.

India created history by securing back-to-back bronze medals under the guidance of coach Craig Fulton.
Harmanpreet Singh was at the top as the leading scoreboard in the tournament. He netted 10 goals in eight matches, surpassing Australia’s Blake Govers, who scored seven goals, by three.
India came at the 71st place on the Paris Olympics medals tally. While,the United States of America topped with a total of 126 medals.
Sreejesh felt very emotional after the match, as it was his last time playing for India.
Since the 1972 Munich Games, it was for the first time in 52 years that India won consecutive bronze hockey medals.
