The Wussan Battalion of 34 Assam Rifles of the Indian Army initiated an uplifting program for aspirant soldiers in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The program has been designed to assist young men and women in achieving their ambition of joining the army through the Agniveer scheme.
Presently, it is training about 20 aspirants who are preparing for their physical tests after passing their initial assessments. Its team at the Kangan unit actively supports their preparation through guidance, resources, and essentials that will help the aspirants be prepared for the tough process of joining the Army. In an act of pure dedication, the Army further provides breakfast meals and all necessary train tickets for traveling to training venues.
The project develops friendships and discipline for the youngsters, at the same time strengthening their relationship with the armed forces. Many candidates are really thankful for all the help provided to them. They pointed out how this current program gives them more confidence and encouragement to serve their country.
One of the candidates, Farooq Ahmad, excitedly says, “I’m currently graduating and heard about the AgniVeer scheme. I was so eager to join the army. The moment I heard about the AgniVeer scheme, I filled out the form. I passed my written test and am now preparing for the physical exam.” Indeed, this speaks to a new sense of resolve in the minds of many young candidates.
Another aspirant, Sajad Ahmad, explained: “I am trying to pass the exam and secure a job. I completed my 10th grade and later finished my B.Sc. exam. I wanted to participate in this program. When I got the call about training, I was eager to join. I come here at 6 am, and we train until 9 am. I encourage others to come and join us, as well.”
As another participant, Aijaz Ahmad, put it, “Many young people joined from different districts. We get 2-3 hours of training, and it’s nice to see so many eager faces.”
The move not only trains potential soldiers but also reinforces ties between the people and the military. While the young men and women prepare for active duty, serving their motherland with pride, they embody the spirit of determination. The Indian Army backs them through the Agniveer scheme, filling hope and commitment in the hearts of many in the valley.
