Kharge Slams Modi Govt’s 100-Day Agenda, Lists Failures

Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge sharply attacked the 100-day agenda of the BJP-led government and pointed out seven key failures in the 95 days since the new government took office.

Kharge took to social media platform X to voice his disquiet. He said, “Before the elections, you boasted about your 100-day agenda. Now, 95 days have passed, and your government is indecisive. Let’s review what’s gone wrong.”

Kharge listed several grievances in his tweet. The Budget was “anti-people,” he felt, and injurious to the health of the poor and middle class. He also pointed out that serious flaws exist in several prestige projects including the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra; new airports; the new Parliament building; and the Lord Ram Temple at Ayodhya; among others.

Kharge also attacked railway security given the recent derailments and said the flood relief was not adequate in the affected states. “Railway security has become a serious issue. Cities are flooded, and states have not received sufficient aid,” he said.

The Congress President also took time to address various security issues, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned recent terrorist attacks in Jammu in which Indian Army jawans lost their lives. On Manipur, too, he said, “It is 16 months since Manipur has been in turmoil, and the Prime Minister has yet to make a statement on the situation.”

Kharge further flayed the Narendra Modi government on various issues. Including the NEET paper leak scandal, massive unemployment, and the Waqf Bill. And accused the government of deceiving the youth and reversing its stance on certain issues. “The NEET paper leak and rising unemployment send a wrong signal about the functioning of your government. You had to hand over the Waqf Bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee and reverse your stand on the UPS and lateral entry”, he said.

Finally, Kharge attacked the Modi government’s 100-day plan. “No one knows what the Prime Minister’s agenda was for these 100 days. But in these 95 days, the country has faced significant issues because of your inactions,” he concluded.

This criticism epitomizes the dissatisfaction that is mounting with the current administration over the performance of the early days.
