In yet another feat, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recorded a deal worth Rs 2000 crore with the US -based Trilliant Networks on September 4, 2024, in Chicago. The major investment will be utilized for establishing a Development & Global Support Centre along with a manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu.
Apart from this, Stalin met Nike and Optum senior executives and invited them to consider new business investments in the state. The government of Tamil Nadu is actively involved in ensuring that growth is inclusive and diffused in the state through the initiation of several industrial projects aimed at improving infrastructure thereby creating sufficient job opportunities.
With its skilled young workforce, achievements in education, and quality infrastructure, Tamil Nadu is slowly turning out to be a premium destination for business. A visit by Chief Minister Stalin to the US is all about attracting more international companies and investments.
Stalin visited the headquarters of major global firms like Nokia, PayPal, Yield Engineering Systems, Microchip Technology, Infinx Healthcare, and Applied Materials in San Francisco. He signed MoUs with these companies for an investment of Rs 900 crore creating 4,100 job opportunities. He also met representatives of Apple, Google, and Microsoft and extended an invitation to invest in Tamil Nadu. Stalin inked an agreement with Google to establish AI research labs in collaboration with the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme. He had also signed a pact with Ohmium to set up a state-of-the-art factory in Kancheepuram district. As part of Rs 400 crore investment providing employment opportunities to 500 people.
On September 3, 2024, Stalin signed MoUs with Eaton for Rs. 200 crores to expand its Chennai production facility and set up a research and development center. A similar agreement was also reached with Assurant to establish a global capability center in Chennai. In all, Stalin signed MoUs with 10 companies during this visit.
In this regard, Stalin finalized an agreement to invest Rs. 2000 crores to build a Development & Global Support Centre. And a production facility in Tamil Nadu in the meeting with Trilliant Networks on September 4, 2024. Headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, Trilliant Networks supplies solutions for Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Smart Grid, Smart Cities, and Industrial IoT.
He also met with Nike and Optum. Significantly, Nike was the leading sports footwear and apparel maker that showed interest in scaling up its non-leather footwear manufacturing and a design center in Chennai. In addition, optum is a part of the UnitedHealth Group. It looked for cooperation in creating a pool of talented workers for Tamil Nadu’s healthcare industry.
The investments by Trilliant Networks, Nike, and Optum will transform Tamil Nadu. The Rs. 2000 crore deal with US will build the leadership of the state in emerging technologies such as Smart Grid and Industrial IoT. Nike’s expansion and the collaboration of Optum in the healthcare sector will bring green growth in employment. And further strengthen the position of Tamil Nadu as a hub for foreign investment.
Also gracing the event were Minister for Industry, Investment Promotion, and Commerce Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Secretary of Industry V. Arun Roy, and other senior departmental officials.
These will go a long way to help Tamil Nadu, spurred with more development now in terms of infrastructure. And job opportunities, bringing more and more international business investments into the state.
