Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Donald Trump on his historic victory in the U.S. presidential elections. Modi tweeted on X: “Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory.”
PM Modi was one of those who was confident about continuing the improvement in Indo-US relations during Trump’s second term. He said, “As you build on the successes of your previous term. I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.” Further, he added that both leaders would work for the betterment of their people and the benefit of global peace, stability, and prosperity.
The two leaders have shared a very warm and close relationship. This has been evident in various events, such as the ‘Howdy Modi!’ rally in the U.S. in 2019 during Trump’s presidency, which was full of warmth in reception and positivism between them. During Trump’s trip to India in 2020. There was another event known as ‘Namaste Trump’, which proved that the two nations share a great public appreciation and friendly relationship.
Modi and Trump have met several times to extend the relationship between India and the U.S. through their summits. The summits were for the bilateral relationships for trade, defense, and security.
The latest projections from Fox News had Trump capturing 277 electoral votes, which is more than the 270 votes needed to capture the presidency. He flipped key battleground states like Pennsylvania and Georgia and leads in Michigan. It’s now the second presidential win by Trump, who will become only the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms ever. The last was Grover Cleveland, who won in 1884 and again in 1892.
In an acceptance speech, Trump thanked his supporters. Stating that he would not sleep until he delivered a “strong, safe, and prosperous America.” Speaking to the supporters in Florida, he labeled his victory the “greatest political movement of all time”. And promised that he was going to be relentless on his journey to see “Make America Great Again.”
Fox News projects that, as the election activities come to a close. The Republicans are likely to win at least 50 seats in the U.S. Senate. CNN projects that Democrats are going to take the governor races in no more than three out of ten states where counting is already underway.
