Parthiv Patel Named Assistant Coach for Gujarat Titans IPL 2025

The Gujarat Titans have signed former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel as their new assistant coach ahead of the IPL 2025 season. The franchise made the announcement just ahead of the IPL mega auction, scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Parthiv, the former wicketkeeper-batter with an accomplished 17-year career, will also take on the role of batting coach with the Titans. In their official statement, the franchise expressed their delight in welcoming Parthiv to the coaching setup.

The management praised Parthiv’s astute cricketing acumen and his ability to mentor youngsters. He is expected to bring in immense experience that would go a long way in helping the batting techniques and the improvement of the overall performance of the side.

Parthiv represented India for the first time at 17 years of age in the year 2002. Throughout his cricket career, he represented in 15 Test matches and 10 ODIs. He played in the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team that backed youngsters. Parthiv had a glorious run in the IPL, starting with his title-winning season with CSK back in 2010.

Later, when he joined Mumbai Indians, he went on to win two more titles-one in 2015 and one in 2017. His quick glove work and role as an opener make him a vital cog for both teams.

The franchise has retained key players for the IPL 2025 Auction. Including Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. Shubman Gill, named captain for the 2024 season, has proven to be a standout performer, scoring 1,799 runs in 45 matches. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan, one of the team’s leading bowlers, has taken 56 wickets in 56 matches.

It has not been an easy season for Gujarat Titans in 2024 after two good seasons of playing. However, the inclusion of Parthiv Patel into the coaching staff gives them reason to believe that this line-up might just get stronger. And also bounce back into form in the 2025 season.
