Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty will receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his significant contribution to Indian cinema. The award will be given during the 70th National Film Awards on October 8, 2024.
The great cinematic journey of Mithun Da inspires generations! Ashwini Vaishnaw tweeted, “Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has unanimously decided upon legendary actor Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema.”
Recently, he was also awarded Padma Bhushan, making him one of the most renowned personalities of Indian cinema. His fans love to address him as ‘Mithun Da’ due to his pleasant personality and outstanding career record. Mithun Da has worked in a lot of bollywood movies and shown his charisma in every movie he worked.
Mithun started his career in 1976 with the film “Mrigayaa,” where he impressed the viewers with his all-round performance. He played the role of a Santhal rebel in this film, for which he received the National Film Award in the category of Best Actor for the first time. Then, he received two more National Film Awards for the films “Tahader Katha” in 1992. And “Swami Vivekananda” in the year 1998.
Besides acting, Mithun even excelled in the field of music. His power-packed dance numbers like “I Am a Disco Dancer,” “Jimmy Jimmy,”. And “Super Dancer” were milestones and favorite tracks among people of different generations.
Most recently, he starred in the critically acclaimed “The Kashmir Files” directed by Vivek Agnihotri. In addition, he actor has been actively working in films for decades.
