Yuvraj Singh: “Hope This Film Inspires Others”

The former fielding sensation of the Indian cricket team, Yuvraj Singh, has had quite an extraordinary personality; his on-field career in cricket and off-field life is truly worth being explained on celluloid.
Helmed by Bhushan Kumar and Ravi Bhagchandka, this under-production film is about a star cricketer and it talks about the story of his glittering career coupled with the toughest battles Yuvraj had been personally fighting or on the field.

Speaking about that, Yuvraj Singh said, “I feel proud that my story is going to be in front of millions of fans across the globe. Working with Bhushan ji and Ravi. Cricket has been my all-time favorite passion and sport that helped me hang in there in all the ups and downs one faces in their career. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their challenges and chase their dreams with an undying passion.”

Bhushan Kumar, who has worked on biggies like ‘Animal’, ‘Srikanth’, ‘Drishyam 2’, and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, shared that the telescopic view of the journey tends to hold sway. It is the story, showcasing the career milestones of co-cricketer Yuvraj. “Yuvraj Singh’s life is a great story of resilience, victory, and fervor. His historic six sixes in the 2007 T20 World Cup to his brave fight off the field are stories that deserve to be told on the big screen,” Kumar said.

Finally, co-producer Ravi Bhagchandka, best known for films like ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ and ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, took the floor on this one and emotionally shared his personal and extremely cherished bond with Yuvraj Singh: “Yuvraj has been a dear friend for many years. I’m honored that he has trusted us to bring his incredible journey to the cinema. And Bhagchandka added, “Yuvi is not just a world champion but a true legend in every sense of the word.”

Some important highlights of the cricketing career of Yuvraj Singh include playing the Under-16 team cricket for the State of Punjab, which he started at the age of 13. Out of his 402 international appearances made for India in his career, till the end of 2017, he scored 11,178 runs with 17 centuries and 71 fifties to his name. He was an important member of the Indian teams that captured the ICC Champions Trophy 2002, ICC T20 World Cup 2007, and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Yuvraj was the first Indian to hit six balls in an over, completing the six sixes against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. ‘Tournament Man of the Series’ would be his other tag in the 2011 World Cup, where he scored runs and took 15 wickets — an all-time high in this exemplary career of his. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, an ailment that is being increasingly conquered, that too to a large extent countering the personal victory of all his professional accomplishments.
