Zoom Phone Launches in India

ZM has launched its service called Zoom Phone in India. The service will, be available on local phone numbers provided within the Maharashtra Telecom Circle, Pune. It claims to support hybrid workforces of MNCs and local companies by providing easy-to-use communication tools. Further, it even boasts global coverage over 50 countries and territories.

The service will be further expanded to other big tech hubs in Karnataka, Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi. This is in addition to the Unified License with an Access license and Long Distance licenses granted by DoT, India, in April 2023 for establishing a dedicated local infrastructure for Zoom Phone.

“Zoom’s cloud PBX service complies with all the applicable telecom regulations in India. Hence we assure a robust service,” said Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of product and engineering at Zoom. Sankarlingam added Zoom Phone also got great market traction globally with many large customers.

Zoom Phone is a user-friendly platform that features flexible, secure voice communication. As well as seamless integration with Zoom Workplace- a collaboration platform of the company.
The local telephony services are available as an add-on subscription from Zoom. The service supports inbound and outbound calling via PSTN, meaning businesses can replace a traditional PBX solution with one integrated platform.

Sameer Raje, the general manager for India and the SAARC region, is all excited to bring Zoom Phone into the country. He added that the service would help companies boost employee engagement and improve customer experiences. He termed this launch as an important step in Zoom’s commitment to the Indian market.

Zoom Phone will now be instilled with AI Companion capabilities that will boost productivity on calls. Users will request call summaries and action items. It also prioritizes urgent voicemail messages and synthesizes tasks from the voicemail messages. So that users can handle their communications with ease.

Krisha Baidya from Frost & Sullivan added, “This launch is very timely since the demand for Unified Communications as a Service is growing manifold in India. Zoom Phone stands out because of its scalability, and security. And user interface which will help meet the growing demand of local and global businesses.”
