Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have finalized their divorce after a long process that was initiated when the couple separated six years back.
The two have shared custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Everly. As per reports leading from E! News, it has been said that spousal support has been waived in their final agreement. Step Up stars Tatum and Dewan have managed to come to a settlement. And will not be going into trial as planned for December.
Everything dealing with the divorce remains private. But both parties will handle any future custody disputes through private negotiations with a judge. The decision will grant them both privacy in what’s already proving to be a challenge.
Documents obtained by E! News reveal the separation agreement had a long and heated negotiation over Tatum’s financial interests in the Magic Mike franchise. An issue that has been one of the biggest points of contention in their legal battle. Jenna filed for divorce back in 2018, citing disagreement over assets they shared. Most notably the intellectual property from Magic Mike.
In more recent filings, Jenna accused Tatum of placing profits from the franchise into an irrevocable trust. And selling the licensing rights without telling her. “I have never denied [Jenna] her share of any community assets or income,” Tatum fired back in response to her allegations. He said she was privy to all of their financial records during the marriage.
Tensions between the two parties increased in the months leading up to the settlement. Tatum also accused Dewan of dragging her feet on the divorce case. He said her motion to disqualify his legal team was unfounded. And “merely the latest in a series of dilatory tactics” taken by her, E! News reports.
Jenna, now engaged to Steve Kazee and the mother of two more children, has navigated a learning curve in dealing with the dynamics of their separation.
Both Tatum and Dewan have made a point of wanting to move on and be good co-parents for Everly’s sake.
To put it in a nutshell, the divorce saga of Tatum and Dewan has finally come to an end. After these jingling years of negotiation and disagreement, they can finally focus on their respective lives and parent their daughter. That journey reminds one of how many couples have to go through grief during separation. Yet it also emphasizes that both parties must seek resolution, if not for anything else, at least for the sake of the family.
