Song Jae-lim, a South Korean actor in his 39 years of age, is dead. His dead body was found on the morning of November 7, 2024, which was variously reported by E! News inside his home in Seoul. His friend came to meet him for lunch around 12:30 p.m. and found his body.
Police did not yet mention the cause of the death but confirmed it did not appear to be a foul play. Following his sudden death, Song’s family announced they would hold a private funeral on November 14, with only their close relatives and friends in attendance.
Song Jae-lim started his acting career in 2009, starting with the movie Actresses, but his rise to general prominence came with the popular historical drama Moon Embracing the Sun in 2012. He played a devoted warrior, and the show gave him critical kudos and also recognition.
Over the years, Song furthered a successful acting career as he appeared in dramas like The Idle Mermaid in 2014, Unkind Ladies in 2015, and most recently I Wanna Hear Your Song in 2019. In 2015, Song won a Soompi Award for Best Actor for the character of Kwon Shi-Kyung in The Idle Mermaid.
Aside from acting, Song also gained fame for his appearance on the popular variety show We Got Married. He starred opposite actress Kim So-eun, and together they became a “fantasy married couple” who won the hearts of many of the viewers. Their chemistry led them to win the Best Couple Award for a Soompi Award. Even off-screen, they had their friendship going strong, as Song shared in a 2015 interview. By working together to create enough material for the show and maintaining a close bond.
His death has left his fans and those who work in the industry totally shocked.
