The trailer for the much-awaited series Khalbali Records is out now. Starring Ram Kapoor, Saloni Batra, and Skand Thakur in pivotal roles, the musical drama is releasing on September 12 exclusively on Jio Cinema.
The series looks at the changing equation between indie and commercial music and has a great concept of riveting father-son rivalry. With Devanshu Singh at the helm of direction, Khalbali Records dives deep into the struggles and changes that are hitting the music fraternity.
The core theme of the series then comes alive with the soulful soundtrack. Ace composer Amit Trivedi has composed the music, while unique indie hip-hop tracks are by Azadi Records. The combination enriches the show’s narrative and keeps it in tune with the audience.
The story reveals the character of Raghav, a brilliant music producer employed at his father’s internationally recognized record label, Galaxy Records. A terrible accident shakes Raghav’s world and provokes him to question the operations and support provided by his father’s company. Finally, it sullies Raghav with Galaxy Records and he decides to start a new record label that would cherish and take care of its artists.
His journey is no cakewalk, though he must face fierce competition at every level. Most of all from his father, who holds on tightly to his grip on the music industry. The designation that Raghav so badly wants for his label happens to be all about artistry. And innovativeness that gets personal and also becomes a deep struggle within oneself. According to the team at Jio Cinema, this struggle also tests his conviction and strength at each turn.
Ram Kapoor exclaimed about the project, “Khalbali Records gives a whole new dimension to the tussle between indie musicians. And commercial labels in tussling for power within the music industry. It encapsulates the spirit of the rising indie wave. As a music enthusiast, it kick-started my involvement in the series where music isn’t just some peripheral element. But a pivotal character. I was drawn by the complex relationship between father and son that freed me to operate on several levels emotionally. And to play a character that is ambitious, successful, and seriously flawed.“
” *Khalbali Records is more than a series, but a musical journey. Wherein every note has been handpicked to mirror emotions captured in the narrative,” says Amit Trivedi, the music producer for the show. Few shows can boast of music being integral to the telling of a story.” Collaborating with Azadi Records, we worked on it for weeks to ensure that every melody matched the script’s emotions.“
‘Khalbali Records’ is all set to release exclusively on JioCinema on 12th September.
