Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, offered deep condolences over the heavy flooding and landslides that hit the country last week. He reiterated India’s pledge to help the Government and people of Nepal in the wake of floods. Concerning the relief and rehabilitation aspects.
He showed solidarity by relaying a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Srivastava told the Nepali leadership: “India stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal at this difficult time.”
He said, “On behalf of the Government of India, I offer sincere condolences for the recent floods causing immense loss of life and property.” He also reiterated that India is ready to provide all possible assistance as needed for the relief and reconstruction efforts.
Following the heavy rainfall during the last week of September, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority warned of more rain across Bagmati and Koshi. The authority requested travelers to travel with caution due to the chances of landslides and flash floods. They stated that heavy rainfall is expected until Friday and that weakened land might cause more damage.
