The release of World of Vaccinology 2024 was marked by a huge function in which Arif Mohammad Khan, the Governor of Kerala, said that vaccination awareness assumes prime importance, particularly in the most vulnerable sections of society. Co-authors of this book are Dr. M.I. Sahadulla, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMSHEALTH, and Dr. Sayenna Uduman, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pediatrics & Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UAE University. It has been tried to bring more understanding about vaccines to the medical fraternity and common people in this book.
Governor Khan emphasized that World of Vaccinology 2024 would provide a rich source of information to medical professionals, students, and the overall public regarding vaccination based on science. He congratulated KIMSHEALTH for the support received in the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine and further added that ‘community education and awareness’ were the two-pronged steps to combat infectious diseases.
Dr. M.I. Sahadulla explained that vaccination had gained more recognition as one of the key sectors in the aspect of maintaining public health. He announced that KIMSHEALTH is soon to adopt a new vaccination program for the prevention of cervical cancer in the state of Kerala. As part of this corporate social responsibility, the HPV vaccination would be given to students between the ages of nine and fourteen years. The institution’s chairman, Dr. Sahadulla, explained that vaccination is for prevention and has also proven to be a vital deterrent in many diseases.
E.M. Najeeb, Executive Director of KIMSHEALTH, clarified that vaccination played an absolutely basic role in building immunity for health, and this role was very pivotal. The realization of adult vaccination is very important, as he opined for improving public health and safeguarding society from a multitude of diseases. Dr. Sayenna Uduman elaborated that the concept of a vaccine is changing, and it is proving its effectiveness not only in cancer but also in a host of lifestyle-related diseases. She reiterates that the relevance of vaccination is very strong in the health scenario now.
Dr. G. Vijayaraghavan, vice-chairman of KIMSHEALTH, reiterated the saying, “Prevention is better than cure,” with special regard to vaccination. He said the principle needs to be adopted by the health policy to extract the best out of preventive measures.
The welcome speech was made by Dr. Muhammed Niyaz, Consultant, Department of Infectious Diseases, and it was during this session that the introduction of the book took place. Dr. A. Rajalakshmi, Senior Consultant, introduced and elaborated on the book at hand to bring out how much its contents would go towards enriching the knowledge on vaccinology.
World of Vaccinology 2024 is a massive contribution to this ever-flowing sea of discussion concerning vaccines, breeding from research, and practice in combat against diseases.
