The Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared his insights on the inspiring journey of four decades in the film industry. On Monday, he shared his journey on Instagram to inspire and stir big dreams for everyone.
Anupam says, in his post, that he had been struggling with hardships in the initial days of his career. He remembered 1984 as a “make or break” year. He wrote: “Every day was nerve-racking and it tested my character and patience. I was desperately looking to get work and recognition on my terms.”
The actor also specified that he had no film connections. He had the willpower and self-belief to pursue his dream. He said, “For someone with no connections, all I had was my willpower and sheer belief in myself. I never wanted to be known as a fluke actor.” Anupam said he did not fit into the mold of a leading man but desired that people learn about his passion and art through the work.
One of the most important landmarks that came in Anupam’s career was when he acted as a bereaved father in Saaransh. He credited Mahesh Bhatt when he put faith in him for a role nobody else did. “He had the vision to cast me as a 65-year-old man grieving and rebelling after losing his son. That role shocked the world and showed everyone that I could deliver a powerful performance,” said Anupam.
Talking about his 40 years in cinema, he significantly points towards two constants in the journey: “First, I have never stopped experimenting and challenging myself. Second, I have always championed the common man. My childhood and formative years in this industry play a huge part in it.”
In addition, on the professional front, Anupam is excited about his upcoming film Vijay 69, releasing on November 8 on Netflix. This lovely slice-of-life written and directed by Akshay Roy will undoubtedly prove to be a family entertainer wherein Vijay, a 69-year-old man, training for a triathlon, doesn’t believe in societal expectations or conceptions and refuses to let age come in the way of his ambitions.
With its humor and emotion blended, Vijay 69 unwraps the relationships that keep us going. Anupam Kher’s story also reminds us that whatever obstacles one faces, resilience and passion will lead to remarkable achievements.
“In my 40-year journey in cinema, I have learned that the keys to success are perseverance and believing in oneself.”
