The recent allegations of sexual assault against him, actor Nivin Pauly has strongly dismissed. At the press conference held in Ernakulam, Kerala on September 4, Pauly termed the accusations “baseless.”. A woman had accused Pauly and others had assaulted her sexually at a Dubai hotel last year.
Pauly was incredulous and angry. “I just saw the news,” he said. “I don’t know this woman and i ever met her. The statement is not true. ” He highlighted how the allegations have emotionally impacted his family.
The actor further assured the audience that he would continue to clear his name. “I’m confident that I am not at fault,” Pauly declared. “I’ve called this press conference because I want to make it clear that I will go to any length to prove my innocence. I have filed an FIR and will address the case through the courts. The process will take time, but I am prepared for it.”
The Kerala Police have slapped serious charges against Pauly and five others. The authorities have accused them of gang rape and other related crimes. Furthermore, the investigation continues. The Special Investigation Team probing complaints of sexual harassment against some leading figures in the Malayalam film industry, recorded the statement of the complainant. Following the leak of a redacted version of the Hema Committee report, the Oonnukal police station in Ernakulam registered the case based on the complainant’s statement. Consequently, the investigation began.
The FIR charges, filed under relevant IPC sections, include 354 for assault or use of criminal force against a woman, 376D for gang rape, and 354C for voyeurism. Moreover, it includes 450 for trespass, 342 for wrongful confinement, and 376(2)(n) for repeated rape of the same woman. Additionally, it covers 506 for criminal intimidation and 34 for acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
In the present case, authorities have named Nivin Pauly as the sixth accused. The other five accused are Shreya, film producer AK Sunil, Binu, Basheer, and Kuttan. The complainant has stated that all these six accused had promised her the role of a heroine in a film before the alleged assault took place in Dubai last year.
Besides the press conference, Nivin Pauly took to Instagram to address the issue. “I have seen a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl,” he wrote. “This accusation is entirely untrue. I am determined to disprove these allegations. I will take all necessary legal steps to bring the truth to light. Thank you for your concern. The matter will be handled legally.”
This development follows a series of sexual harassment complaints against several prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry. Additionally, others facing various allegations include filmmaker Ranjith, CPI(M) MLA and actor Mukesh, as well as actors Edavela Babu, Baburaj, Jayasurya, and Siddique.
As the due process of law continues, Pauly’s persistence of innocence and his readiness for full engagement with the law reflect a commitment to clear his name.
