Congress MP Randeep Surjewala attended a rally in Kaithal, Haryana, and said that Congress would achieve big leads in the state elections. During his speech, Surjewala highlighted ongoing regional projects. He noted that the university remains incomplete and the medical college has yet to be finished.
Surjewala also lambasted the BJP-led state government for its failure to push these two major projects. For ten years, the BJP had prepared only ten rooms. On the contrary, the Congress party would complete the construction of the university as well as the medical college within two to two-and-a-half years. The leader said that Congress would restore the “past glory” of Kaithal within one year of coming into power.
Confronting the media, Surjewala said, “When the decision was taken to establish a university and a medical college in Kaithal, the Congress government, once formed with the support of the people, will accord priority to conducting an inquiry into the stalled projects. The BJP could only get ten rooms in ten years. Whereas we intend to complete the medical college in two to two and half years. We will take up all the incomplete works. And make Kaithal as bright as it used to be within our first year in office. By the response we are getting, we are confident of a decisive Congress victory.”
The move came on Sunday when, besides his rally speech. Congress also released its second list of nine candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections. This is also amid ongoing negotiations between Congress. And the Aam Aadmi Party over a possible alliance ahead of the polls.
Earlier, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said there is a will from both parties to work together. But did not wish to speak about the details of the seat-sharing talks.
Two wrestlers-turned-politicians, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia, all joined Congress just one month in advance of state polls. This is an attempt at boosting the appeal for Congress and making the party position strong in the elections.
The Haryana legislative assembly elections scheduled for October 5. Candidates must file their nominations by September 12. The counting of votes will occur on October 8.
In the assembly polls held in 2019, BJP had emerged as the single-largest party with 40 seats. While Congress had secured 30 seats. It will be an important election as both parties will contest it as a major test of strength for the formation of government in the state.
