Rajasthan Boosts Gratuity and Pension for State Employees

In a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Rajasthan Government on Sunday took important decisions aimed at benefitting the employees in the state. The decisions in the offing include enhancement of gratuity, expansion of medical benefits. And giving a facelift to the pension schemes.

In this regard, the Rajasthan government has increased the maximum gratuity and death gratuity limit to Rs 25 lakh from Rs 20 lakh. This is a step towards more effectively serving the needs of employees and their families. Announcing this, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa said the increase in gratuity amount would result in improved financial security for state personnel.

The Rajasthan government will also bring its medical benefits to par with the CGHS. Hence, the state employees may either include their parents or in-laws in the RGHS, on the condition that these relatives are dependent and stay with the employees. Rule 3(9) of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Medical Care) Rules, 2013, would be amended to this effect. The amendment is likely to come into effect from the budget year 2024-25.

Another important decision taken was the improvement in family pension benefits. In case an employee dies while in service, a family pension at the enhanced rate is payable to the family for 10 years, as is the case with the central employees’ scheme. This change will amend Rules 55 and 62 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996. The new provisions will come into effect on April 1, 2024.

The Cabinet also gave ex-post facto approval to several changes in rules about court employees.The government approved amendments to several rules. It changed Rule 14A and Sub-rule 4 of Rule 20 of the Rajasthan District Court Clerical Class Establishment Rules, 1986. It also revised Sub-rule 4 and Rule 30 of Rule 18 of the Rajasthan Subordinate Court Service Rules, 2017.

These amendments will benefit clerical staff, drivers, and Class IV employees. All those who previously missed promotions due to having more than two children. In addition, they will now review promotion cases from their original due dates and can grant a notional pay increment.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel is driving new initiatives for the state’s rail transport and industrial sectors. The government is accelerating the construction of a new railway line connecting Shrinathdwara with Mewar and Marwar.

The Central Government supports this effort to strengthen the railway network.

The cabinet also approved 42.1576 hectares of land from Rajsamand, Devgarh, Nathdwara, and Amet subdivisions. This land will be used for the Nathdwara-Devgarh-Madaria gauge conversion project. Under Section 102 of the Rajasthan Land Revenue Act, 1956.

These are far-reaching steps to support state employees and upgrade state infrastructure in Rajasthan.
