Odisha State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has said that Odisha is heading to become a major health sector hub. On Friday, while addressing the media in Sambalpur, Mahaling claimed plans were on to start the second campus of AIIMS in Sambalpur. He also said within five years, Odisha will stand tall as a major health hub.
Mahaling thanked the Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who has supported the Central Health Project. “It is a matter of great joy that CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have announced the second AIIMS campus for the state. Preparations are being made, including acquiring land. In the next five years, Odisha will turn into a premier health hub,” Mahaling told ANI.
He said, “Today, under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, we held a meeting with all ministers and MLAs. We prepared a roadmap for the ongoing membership campaign across the country. Our government will also celebrate Seva Saptah.”
Mahaling also highlighted that the government will launch the Subhadra Yojana on September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. “We are launching the Subhadra Yojana on the Prime Minister’s birthday, fulfilling a promise from our manifesto. He will inaugurate the scheme. We will also hold district-level functions to showcase the progress our government has made in the past 100 days,” he said.
Earlier, on September 8, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that they will build the second AIIMS in Sambalpur. “We will establish the second AIIMS in Odisha in Sambalpur,” Majhi said. The state government has already made a request to the Centre regarding this,” CM Majhi stated during the launch of the CM-KISAN Yojana at GM University in Sambalpur.
Odisha got its first AIIMS in 2014 during the UPA regime. On 8 September, Chief Minister Majhi also launched ‘CM-KISAN Yojana’ which would extend financial assistance to 46 lakh small and marginal farmers falling out of the coverage of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The plan targets to give out over ₹900 crore in aid.
During this period, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida launched the Subhadra Yojana awareness ‘rath’ on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Earlier, she had launched the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ portal at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. “Now, the beneficiaries may visit the official Subhadra website to apply and take benefit by furnishing the requisite details. The scheme will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17,” explained Parida.
Subhadra Yojana, which has a budget of ₹ 10,000 crores, has prepared a list of 1.5 crores women. A standard procedure for the distribution of funds will be established. The Chief Minister, Majhi, stressed, “It is impossible to develop by keeping women in the dark. This scheme will fulfill the dream of every woman doctor, financial independence, and empowerment.”
Odisha commitment to health infrastructure and the welfare of its citizens is crystal clear. Many initiatives of the state’s new campus of AIIMS, many schemes have been propelling the state to enhance health services, give rights to women, and honor the very policies of the government in rendering service to the subjects.
