The next big refresh of the MacBook Air will arrive in early 2025, complete with brand new M4 chips, marking a new step in Apple’s custom silicon development. This might happen between January and March 2025, when Apple will make the new MacBook Airs public.
Since the M3 MacBook Air only just arrived this spring, the new ones coming will most likely retain their neat design, just like the current M2 model. Both 13-inch and 15-inch models should be available. This means that any transition to these new models from the currently available machines will be relatively seamless for users, who can enjoy superior performance from the M4 chips without any hassle.
Meanwhile, Apple plans to reveal several refreshes for its line of computers in the coming months. But none will be for the MacBook Air. The updates will include all-new MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, and iMacs. Anyone waiting for a refreshed Mac Studio will need to be patient. Current models feature M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips. However, the next generation of Mac Studio is expected to arrive between March and June 2025, following a software release.
Apple is also developing an M4 Mac Pro, but the timeline for its release remains unclear. It certainly shows how Apple constantly innovates and works further with its technology across its product lines.
In addition to hardware refreshes, Apple is still working on a couple of product refreshes. The company plans to release a refreshed iPhone SE, higher-end iPad Air models, better keyboards for iPads and updated low-end iPads this spring. This wide array of refreshes shows that the company focuses on improving user experience. And keeping its product line fresh to stay competitive.
The launch of the much-waited-for M4 MacBook Air does point at enviable times ahead for those who need some performance boost in the usual design. Still innovating, Apple will be updating a bunch of devices in 2025, among other things, that users will be expecting. Keep watching as 2024 inches closer to an end.
