Karnataka Lokayukta Raids Multiple Locations

Lokayukta, the anti-corruption wing of Karnataka, has been conducting raids in different parts of the state.

All in all, the places being raided are about 25, including that of officials. Karnataka Lokayukta is perusing the records and documents about these cases. In Mandya, Mahesh, Managing Director, Kaveri Neeravai Nigama at Surface Water Data Centre in Bengaluru, is under search.

Other raided officials include NK Thippe Swamy, Director of Town and Country Planning. The raids indicate the continued effort put by Lokayukta to curb corruption and bring accountability among public servants. Details of the raids are awaited.

This is not the first operation taken by the Karnataka Lokayukta. In July, the agency had conducted raids at 12 places across six districts of the state, targeting 12 state officials. The residences and offices of several public servants were raided, taking the number to 54 locations.

Among the targets were R Siddappa, Senior Veterinary Officer; K Narasimha Murthy, Municipal Commissioner of Hebbagodi CMC, and Commercial Tax Joint Commissioner Ramesh Kumar.

In Karnataka, the Lokayukta is vested with major responsibility in fighting corruption. It inquires and reports on individual cases of maladministration, corruption, and other grievances about public servants. The raid by the Lokayukta is being done as an effort to show that corruption would not be tolerated in the state.

Conclusively, the raids by Karnataka Lokayukta reveal the relentless effort put in by this agency to root out corruption in public service in the state. The Lokayukta tries to make the administration transparent and accountable by targeting officials in different departments.
