Kangana Ranaut Reveals Emergency Release Date: Jan 17, 2025

Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has finally announced the release date of her highly-awaited film, Emergency. As confirmed, the bio-political thriller will hit the screens on January 17, 2025. The movie will showcase one of the most controversial political phases in Indian history.

This announcement comes after almost a month since the film obtained its censor certificate from the CBFC, which was considered quite a big development in this project. Sharing the excitement among her fans, Kangana shared the new poster of the film on her Instagram. She captioned it, “17th January 2025 – The epic saga of the nation’s most powerful woman and the moment that altered India’s destiny. #Emergency – Unveils Only in cinemas on 17.01.2025!”

Emergency is a biographical thriller based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. And follows her turbulent 21-month period when she declared a state of national emergency from 1975 to 1977. The film was based on the explosive events during a period of political turmoil. And controversy in India in which Kangana essayed the role of Indira Gandhi.

The actress had announced, in October, that the film received its censor certificate. Sharing back then on X, she said, “Glad to announce we have received censor certificate for our movie Emergency. And we will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for the patience and support.”

Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films produce the film, which promises to provide a deep dive into the events that defined Indira Gandhi’s leadership and shaped India’s political trajectory. The story touches on pivotal moments in Indian history, portraying the complex dynamics of governance, and power. And the personal struggles faced by the Prime Minister during the emergency.

Set amidst one of the most turbulent political phases in the history of India. The movie Emergency attempts to showcase a country standing on the threshold of change.
