Gujarat Targets $3.5 Trillion Economy by 2047: CM Patel

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, while stating a target for making Gujarat a USD 3.5 trillion economy by 2047, said it would be in tune to transform India into a developed nation, or “Viksit Bharat,” as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the centenary of its independence.

Addressing the FICCI National Executive Committee NECM, Patel emphasized that Gujarat was playing a crucial role in leading economic growth in the country. He attributed this to industry-friendly policies and investments in sectors like semiconductors, green hydrogen, and renewable energy. Gujarat, during the leadership under the initiatives of Prime Minister Modi on Make in India, Digital India, and Skill India, has turned into a growth engine, he said.

Patel affirmed, “We have prepared the roadmap for Viksit Gujarat by 2047. And we are committed to reaching a 3.5 trillion USD economy by then.” Patel also mentioned the role of FICCI in this regard for such growth and termed it a “catalyst for economic progress.”

Patel reflected upon the achievements put up by Gujarat while underlining that the growth rate in several years at 12%. And the major contribution to national exports, with 8% of India’s total exports and 40% of maritime cargo. Marked the importance of the state in the country’s development. He emphasized that Gujarat has emerged as a prime investment destination, thereby attracting foreign direct investments and creating job opportunities.

FICCI President Anish Shah hailed Gujarat as a leader in India’s economic journey. He said that though the state comprises only 5% of the nation’s population. It contributes 10% to the GDP of India. And is also playing a very strong role in the infrastructure and trade of the country.

Senior Vice-president of FICCI Harsh Vardhan Agarwal thanked the vision of Gujarat. And said FICCI looks forward to deepening its partnership with the state in coming years.

The meeting announced Harsha Vardhan Agarwal as the president-elect for FICCI.

The talks kept getting back to the fact that for growth and to make Gujarat and India prosperous. Collaboration between industry and policy is required.
