Google Photos is adding a feature to make it easier for users to keep a tab on the activity going on in their shared albums. A new section called ‘Updates’ will be introduced on Android and iOS. Letting users keep a better tab on changes in shared albums, comments, and group conversations. The update simply aims to give the user a cleaner and more fluid experience.
This replaces the old share button that allows the user to make an album visible to others. In addition to the share button, the users will now find a bell icon. It forwards users to a feed where they can easily see the recent notifications about their shared albums and the discussions going on.
This, according to Google, will help users catch up on updates about Google Photos with ease. Activity will be listed chronologically on the ‘Updates’ page, where users will have options to filter events by selected periods. Like “today,” “yesterday,” “this week,” “this month,” or “last month.” This way, users will be able to have a fast look at each new change. Or take action in their albums or group conversations.
According to a Google support post, “We want to simplify how you can see what’s recent in your activity using an interface that makes albums, groups, and conversations more accessible.”
This update is very useful when managing shared albums or collaborating in group chats.
Besides the new section ‘Updates’, the user now can directly access the shared albums from a newly launched section called ‘Collections’. This keeps all of your albums, both personal and shared, in one place for easier management. And navigation either through your photos or through collaborations with family, friends, or colleagues.
Availability, on the other hand, will vary by region and device, though, even though the feature is rolling out now. If users do not see the ‘Updates’ section yet, Google suggests checking back over the coming weeks. While the feature continues to rollout out to more users.
