Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd has signed an LOI with the Government of Goa to strengthen waste management practices in Mormugao, Vasco. Announcing it at the Green Goa Summit 2024, a Letter of Intent was signed and exchanged with Mahesh K Patil, Chairman of, the Goa State Pollution Control Board, in the presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.
This initiative, therefore, was done keeping in mind the importance of waste management for public health and quality of life. Rather, it is fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship. It has been a part of Bisleri’s CSR initiative, ‘Bottles for Change.‘ The key partners were the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), and Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC).
The partnership initiative shall work towards handling Mormugao’s waste management problems through integrated educational programs that will, in turn, create awareness of proper waste management among residents, businesses, and educational institutions within the jurisdictional area of the Mormugao Municipal Council. Besides this, the initiative shall work for improved efficiency in the collection, segregation. And recycling of dry and plastic wastes, with an aspiration for a cleaner and healthier environment.
To support these, the collaboration includes training of staff at the MRFs managed by MMC. It also includes supporting operations of the SHG-run recovery facilities at Harvalem. GSPCB, GWMC, and MMC will benefit from well-defined mechanisms for monitoring effectiveness, capturing performance data, and receiving regular reports. SampurnEURarth Environment Solution Pvt. Ltd., Bisleri’s local implementation partner in Goa, will spearhead the entire project with its expertise.
Mahesh K Patil, Chairman of GSPCB, underscored the importance of this initiative. “This partnership will drive effective change and positively impact the environmental and public health landscape of Goa,“ he said.

During the summit, Bisleri also launched the book “Towards Responsible Use of Plastics.” This booklet, compiled with support from the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), promotes responsible plastic use by emphasizing the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Consequently, it aims to sensitize students about the proper usage, discarding, and recycling of plastic products, ultimately leading to attitudinal change.
Furthermore, the summit gathered key stakeholders, including Mahesh Patil, Dr. Ashok Khosla, Aleixo Sequeira, Mauvin Godinho, Shripad Naik, and Suresh Prabhu, among others. They discussed strategies to enhance ESG and SDG issues in Goa.
Additionally, ‘Bottles for Change’ is a prominent initiative within the Bisleri Greener Promise campaign. This initiative focuses on creating awareness about post-consumer plastic value and promoting responsible recycling. Engaging over a million citizens across 20 cities, it drives environmental sustainability and encourages greener habits.
