Anil Vij Targets Congress, Warns Officials

Senior BJP leader Anil Vij on Friday said that the first project of the newly formed Haryana government will be the inauguration of an escalator at the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment on Monday. Vij directed the officials to expedite the ongoing developmental works, saying the inspections have already started since the recent elections.

He also sent a strong word of caution to the officials, saying those who live by the slogan “I have worked, and I will work” will remain there. But this seemed a message to bureaucrats. Heading the different departments, that they must not be complacent with their work now that a new government is in state.

Vij also reacted to the recent protest by the Congress party against the decision of the Haryana government to impose fines on those burning farm waste. Vij assailed Congress for “just woken up from slumber.” He added, “Ab to Hooda sahib so rahe hain sone se. Ab Supreme Court ka kya hukum hai vo dekhenge aur usi hisaab se kaam karenge.”

Vij said the people had rejected Congress in elections. And “You have to do this for the next five years because the public has rejected you. When you needed the public, the public did not come with you.” He insinuated that Congress was out of step with the needs of the people. A theme he did throughout his comments.

Commenting on the resignation of Captain Ajay Yadav from all Congress posts. Vij said, “The condition of Congress seems that the shop of Congress is about to close.” The foregoing mark of his remark underlined the BJP’s view that Congress was losing influence and was in disarray.

Vij also spoke about the currently underway membership campaign by the BJP. He reiterated that the BJP was an organization-based party. And said that only active members would be considered for party posts. “Ours is a party of organization,” he said.

Mocking them, Vij said while Congress leaders had once fought for the chief minister’s post. Now they were contesting for the post of opposition leader. He added, “The doctor who does not know how to read the pulse of the people should close his clinic,” the pointed jab at the Congress leadership.

The sarcasm from Vij is apparently directed to tear down the claim of authority from Congress. And make BJP’s slogan of efficiency and progress in Haryana louder.
