An A-list rally for Vice President Kamala Harris included some top performers pushing for voter turnout in key battleground states on the eve of Election Day.
Lady Gaga, Jon Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, and many more icons in the music and entertainment industry took to the stage. Calling for the Democratic campaign to fire up the voters. Events went down in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Milwaukee- all across the country and locations that have been pinpointed as key swing states. The rally served to galvanize the electorate, especially in Pennsylvania, where Harris’s race against Republican challenger Donald Trump will be quite close.
Lady Gaga headlined the rally in Philadelphia on Monday night. Performing rousing renditions of “God Bless America” and “Edge of Glory” to a jam-packed crowd. Before singing, Gaga spoke to the audience, pleading with women to make their voices heard at the polls.
“For more than half of this country’s history, women didn’t have a voice,” Gaga said. “But tomorrow, women will help make this decision.”
She also reflected upon strong women in her life, and spoke of casting her vote for someone who would represent all Americans: “Now it’s your turn. The country is depending on you,” she said.
It was more than a concert rally; it reminded people of what was at stake in this election. Oprah Winfrey, who followed Gaga’s performance, also spoke about the importance of voters in Pennsylvania.
“If we don’t show up tomorrow, we might never have the chance to vote again,” warned Winfrey. “Deciding not to decide is a vote for others to control your future.”
Next up, Winfrey welcomed Will.i.am, who sang his song of celebration for Harris’ historic candidacy: “YES SHE CAN.”
The evening ended with Harris delivering a passion speech. Telling the voters in Pennsylvania that they would be the determining factors in the election. “You will decide the outcome of this election,” she told the gathered crowd.
When midnight struck, Lady Gaga took the stage one final time to perform an acoustic version of “Edge of Glory” that served as the official kickoff for Election Day.
The rally was part of the Democrats’ final push to get out the vote. With live streams and events across seven battleground states. Other cities besides Philadelphia held performances from big names, including Jon Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, and 2 Chainz.
In the final weeks of the campaign, Harris received several celebrity endorsements. Including big names such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Harrison Ford.
